Using subdomains is a way around the lack of a directory structure. It allows you to install each app separately on each subdomain and configure it accordingly. If you're using WhyPark's name servers, nothing else needs to be done from your registrar's end.

The description to the Hotel App says that you have the ability to filter and sort hotels by class, features and more. I can't find how to do this, am I missing something?

Once the hotel app goes live and you click on the hotels link or "more hotels", you're shown the top 10 hotels for that city. A user can then refine by class from there to see more matching hotels.

Great stuff, I guess everyone would love to know if these apps are catching on and are actually making a revenue allready?
Compliments on the job! |

It'll take a bit of time to get some real numbers in place to where we can say that the revenue is attributed directly to a specific app. We obviously can see revenue from the different sources, but the real trick is to make sure that revenue on a domain that added specific apps has increased overall, not just shifted to a different source. As more data starts to come in, we'll work on getting some case studies in place along with what's working for customers and how it's being done.

I love the apps!! I'm using at least one app on almost all my sites. I was wondering if the Twitter Stream also generates revenue or is that merely for content?

The Twitter stream is merely for content and to get constantly refreshing tweets that are very focused, may not appear on any other site because of the frequency of tweets and could bring people back. It's great to hear the positive feedback!

This is my first post. For the Whypark Domain Apps, is anyone else noticing a problem with the Hotel App? I have contacted Kelly on this and she stated she submitted the information to the "webmaster" or whomever. Specifically, on many hotel apps I install, if it is installed on the homepage, there will be a "broken" image for one or a few of the hotels; however, if you click on the "hotel" Featured link, the exact same hotel will then have the hotel image showing up. It seems there is something wrong within the code when some of the hotel apps are set-up to show on the home page. I am posting this for awareness of the situation in hopes that it can be looked at and possibly fixed. I have a several hotel apps, and in setting them up I have noticed this more than once re: it is not a one time occurrence. Let me know if this can be corrected.

Matt - It seems that the partner we use for the hotel data pulls images down from time to time, more so on international properties it seems. We have a script that runs now to clean that up, but we're going to add some additional caching in as well, so it won't happen. We're on it.

We pull the descriptions and product info directly from the feed, so we aren't able (or allowed for that matter) to translate or change those descriptions. I'd recommend going with a white background in that site to make it a bit easier to read. It'll lead to more activity and revenue that way as well.

I have a question about setting up sub domains and using 3rd party ads.
If I set up some subdomains for different products, can I show a different ad on each subdomain? Like, myexample.mydomain (dot) com Can I put the 3rd party ad html for that specific product on that subdomain? So, if I set up 5 subdomains could I have ads for 5 different products, one for each subdomain? Thanks, Morg ![]() More ???? I went to set up some subdomains at my host godaddy (d0t ) com and I only saw the option to forward them, will that work?, or do I need to use the name servers for it to work correctly? Thanks again Morg Last edited by morg; 08-06-2010 at 01:54 PM. Reason: Spelling error and another question |

Go to GoDaddy. Set your nameservers to NS1.WHYPARK.COM and NS2.WHYPARK.COM Then in WHYPARK add a single site such: If your domain is domain(dot)com then you can add a product line, say shoes, as shoes.domain(dot)com, set up the keywords etc as you normally would and then set layout, and add a domain app related to shoes. save and presto your domain is live. Then if you had another product, say socks, you could add another site as socks.domain(dot)com Does this help? lcdmonitor.computer--monitor.com |

Thanks Manager!
So, I only need to have the main domain set with the name servers, and just forward my subdomains to the main page? Or do I need to point the name servers for each subdomain to whypark? (I did not see a way to set name servers for subdomains, only to forward subdomains.) Thanks, Morg |

You would add your main domain to Whypark as normal When thats in WP just add another site to WP and use the naming convention subdomain.maindomain(.)com . Note the period between subdomain and main domain. so I have www.computerpowersupply.co That's my main domain. I added a shopping domain app for computer power supplies. Then I thought that a site with a shopping app for high W power supplies would be good. So I added 750W as a subdomain straight into WP as a new site so I get www.750W.computerpowersupply.co Don't need to set anything more up at Godaddy. |

Thanks for the help, Manager!
I was making it harder than it needed to be. I already had the main domain set up on wp, I though I had to create the subdomains at my registrar. I just needed to set them up at whypark, and link them via the free link tool on my main domain. Morg ![]()
